Chandler Drives In Four in Series-Opening Win Over King

The Crusaders began their latest conference series with a 4-3 victory over the Tornado of King University in Bristol, Tennessee. North Greenville is now on a six-game winning streak, and has won 18 of the last 19 games. Jeffrey Chandler drove in all of NGU's runs while Ethan Garner took the win.

Innings 1-3 (4-1 NGU)

North Greenville struck early with three runs in the 1st inning. After Jeremy Whitehead and Utah Jones drew walks, Jeffrey Chandler connected for a three-run home run down the left field line. King also drew two walks in the bottom of the inning, but started Ethan Garner retired the next two batters to end the threat. The 2nd inning was a busy one as the Crusaders would get two runners on base with singles while the Tornado loaded the bases, but neither team was able to plate a run. NGU added to the lead with an RBI double by Chandler to record his fourth RBI. King also scored a run by way of an RBI double.

Innings 4-6 (4-1 NGU)

Lex Tuten began the 4th inning by reaching on an error, but the Crusaders would ultimately go three up, three down as a double play retired the side. KU would get two more runners on base in the bottom of the inning, but again would come up empty. Whitehead began the 5th inning with a leadoff single, but for the second straight inning a double play retired the side. King put up a base hit in the bottom of the inning, but John Michael Faile put a stop to the inning by throwing a runner out at second. Both teams would get a runner on base in the 6th, but would go scoreless in the inning.

Innings 7-9 (4-3 NGU)

The two teams would put up a base hit in the 7th, but once again would go scoreless. After North Greenville went three up, three down in the top of the 8th, King would put up a fight with two runs scored in the bottom of the inning with a two RBI double. After the Crusaders went quiet in the 9th other than a double by Josh Senter, KU started off the bottom of the inning with a single, but Kipp Rollings ended the game with a strikeout and a double play to earn the save.

Individual

Jeffrey Chandler went 2 for 4 including a home run and drove in 4 RBIs.

Jeremy Whitehead was not retired at the plate, going 3 for 3 and drawing a walk.

Adam Sasser collected 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
