The North Greenville Crusaders officially entered the win column with a 5-2 win over the Lander Bearcats in Tampa, Florida. NGU put up eight hits and did not commit an error. Ethan Garner collected the win with 5.0 shutout innings pitched. Ryan Kirk pitched the final 4.0 innings, earning the save.
Innings 1-3 (0-0 Tied)
Not much went on through the first three innings, especially for the Crusaders who went three up three down in all three innings. Lander left one runner on base in the 1st, two in the 2nd, and 1 in the 3rd, but did not score a run.
Innings 4-6 (4-0 NGU)
NGU threated in the top of the 4th with Jeremy Whitehead and Adam Sasser on base. However, Michael Neustifter hit into a double play to end the threat. North Greenville finally struck the run column in the top of the 5th. With the bases loaded, Jared Williams came through with a two-RBI triple to left center to score Josh Senter and Sean Parsons. Jaremy Whitehead would then bring in Williams with a single through the right side. The Crusaders would strike again in the 6th with an RBI single up the middle by Neustifter, scoring Sasser. In the bottom of the inning, Ryan Kirk replaced Ethan Garner on the mound.
Innings 7-9 (5-2 NGU)
A quiet 7th inning saw just one runner reach base, which was by Lander. The Crusaders put two runners on base in the 8th, but would ultimately go quiet in the inning. Lander would finally enter the run column in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single up the middle and a run scoring as the result of a wild pitch. After Jeremy Whitehead doubled up the middle in the top of the 9th, Utah Jones would bring in Whitehead with an RBI single to left field. The Bearcats would get one runner on base in the 9th, but the Crusaders would retire the side to take the win.
