Tigerville, S.C. -- Connor Grant capped off his NGU career with one more award this week as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Gold Glove Team for NCAA Division II Baseball.
The honor adds to a list of postseason accolades for the now professional baseball player including First Team All-Conference, and a pair of First Team All-Region nods. Grant is the first NGU baseball player to earn the Gold Glove Award sponsored by Rawlings Baseball.
The now Miami Marlin, Grant was part of a dangerous NGU line-up this season, which led the Crusaders to the NCAA postseason. He hit .367 on the season with 73 – hits including 13 doubles and 10 – homers, he was sixth in the conference in batting average and 10th in slugging percentage.
The defensive stalwart was also perfect in the field for North Greenville as he finished out his career with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He had 108 put-outs this season and also finished the season with six assists including a pair of key assists at home plate which helped lift NGU one of the best seasons in school history. Grant also had his hand in a pair of double-plays.
The Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Team is made up of nine players from around the country. Grant is the only player on the list to represent Conference Carolinas as well as the Southeast Region. The states of Florida and Colorado lead the list with two players each. Grant is also the only player from the State of South Carolina to make the list.
