Tigerville – Tucker Burgess represented North Greenville once again with post-season accolades as he was named a Third Team All-American performer by the National College Baseball Writers Association.
Burgess finished the 2018 season leading the nation in wins with 14, which is the most wins by a starting pitcher across Divisions I and II. Burgess helped lead the Crusaders to a 46 – 10 record, matching the best winning mark in program history and had a perfect record in league starts at 8 – 0. The Liberty native was virtually un-hittable, surrendering a 2.97 earned run average across 17 – starts.
Over the season, Burgess posted 20th best strikeout to walk ratio in the nation, dealing 89 – k’s compared to just 15 – free passes. Teams batted just .266 against in 96.2 – innings pitched this season, allowing just 21 – extra base hits over that period. Two of his 17 – starts were complete game showings and one of which was a shutout.
Burgess added the All-American nod to a growing list of postseason credentials which including Team All-Conference honors, First Team NCBWA All-Region honors, and First Team Conference Commissioners Association honors. Burges was also named Pitcher of the Year for Conference Carolinas.
