Central, S.C. - NGU completed its third conference sweep of the season, taking down Southern Wesleyan 11-1 in Game One and 9-2 in Game Two. The Crusaders are now on a ten game winning streak, the longest of the season to date. Utah Jones recorded four hits in Game One while Josh Black recorded four hits in Game Two. Ryan Brown had a consistent performance with two hits in each game. Tucker Burgess and Blake Hamilton were the winning pitchers of the day.

Game 1

The Basics

  • Score: North Greenville – 11 / Southern Wesleyan – 1
  • Records: NGU 26-5, 12-2 CC / SWU 12-19, 1-13 CC
  • Location: Central, South Carolina (Dr. C. Keith Connor Field)

How it Happened

  • After two scoreless innings, the Crusaders got on the board first when Connor Grant hit an RBI-single up the middle. John Jones would later score in the inning as well due to a wild pitch.
  • The 4th was a strong inning for NGU with five runs scored including an RBI-double by Grant and a two-RBI single by Andrew Plunkett.
  • Three more runs came in for North Greenville in the 5th to go up 10-0. Utah Jones hit an RBI-double and two runs later scored due to an error.
  • An RBI-double by Sean Parsons scored NGU's final run of the game.
  • SWU mustered one run in the 7th to end the game with a final score of 11-1.

  • NGU carried over offensively from the first game into the second, scoring two runs in the 1st. A sacrifice fly by John Jones brought in the first run while an RBI-single by Ryan Brown brought in the second.
  • Josh Black would bring in the next three runs for the Crusaders with an RBI-single in the 2nd, an RBI-double in the 4th, and another RBI-double in the 6th. Jones brought in another run in the 6th with a two-RBI single up the middle.
  • Josh Senter capped off the North Greenville offense when he hit a two-RBI double to left field.
  • Devin Patrick's two-RBI single scored SWU's two runs in the 8th.
