Tigerville, S.C. - Tucker Burgess was named an All-Southeast Pre-Season First Team Selection and North Greenville was ranked ninth in the pre-season regional polls released today by the National College Baseball Writers Association.
Burgess earned first-team All-Southeast Region after turning in one of the best junior seasons in school history. The right-hander from Liberty, South Carolina finished with a 2.56 earned run average and a 9-1 record. He allowed just 81-hits in 81-innings of work and just 23-earned runs.
The hurler was also named All-Conference first team last season and a pair of second-team All-Region nods. Teams batted just .262 against Burgess and he totaled 84-strikeouts. He also scored a pair of Pitcher of the Week nods from Conference Carolinas and was second in the conference in ERA and total wins.
North Greenville enters the season ranked 9th in the region as voted on by the NCBWA. The Crusaders finished the 2017 season with a 38-15 record and a 20-7 mark in Conference Carolinas. North Greenville was 21-1 in the friendly confines of Ashmore field and 13-9 in road games.
The 2018 season is scheduled to start on February 3rd against Paine College in Milledgeville, Georgia.
