This week marks the beginning of the Conference Carolinas championships and North Greenville is well represented. The Crusaders are participating in Baseball, Softball, and both lacrosse tournaments, as well as the golf and track and field championships.
MEN’S & WOMEN’S LACROSSE
For the first time in the three-year history of NGU lacrosse, both the men and women’s teams have made the playoffs. NGU women will take part in their second consecutive post season tournament while the men have secured a spot for the first time, even going a step further hosting the first round.
Both teams will take on Pfeiffer University with the men hosting the Falcons on Tuesday while the women will travel to Misenheimer for a Wednesday draw. Both start times are scheduled for 4pm. Live stats and video streaming information cane be found below.
North Greenville baseball turned in another solid season under third year head coach Landon Powell. The Crusaders wrapped up the 2017 season with a record of 37-13 as Powell reached the 100-win plateau for career W’s. North Greenville finished the season with a 20-7 mark in league play, securing the second seed in the tournament.
The Crusaders will travel to North Carolina this week to take on the Conference Carolinas tournament, which begins on Thursday. NGU will open the weekend against the fifth seeded Erskine Flying Fleet. NGU swept the Lions this season in a home series. North Greenville head coach Sarah Hall reached a couple milestones in 2017, scoring her 200th win while also reaching the 30-win plateau for the first time with NGU. The Crusaders finished 31-17 on the season with a 17-5 mark in league paly. The conference recurred locked up a third seed for North Greenville, a team which is looking to earn its first ever NCAA Regional bid.
NGU will travel to Burlington, North Carolina to take on the sixth seeded Mount Olive Trojans. The Crusaders split with Mount Olive earlier in the season in a double-header played in Tigerville. The game will be played on Field-4 at the Springwood Park. Live stats information can be found below.
The men and women’s golf teams are a round in to the 2017 Conference Carolinas championships. The Crusaders wrapped up the first round on Sunday afternoon but ran into some weather delays on Monday as the second round was suspended due to heavy amounts of rain making the course unplayable.
