Crusaders Fall to Catawba at Fluor Field

Greenville, SC - North Greenville held a 3-2 lead heading into the sixth inning, but allowed six runs off of seven hits and three defensive errors in the top of the seventh, and ultimately fell to the Indians 8-4 in Greenville. Andrew Frazier recorded two of North Greenville's four hits. Kyle Kadlub was charged with the loss.

After two scoreless innings, the Crusaders strung together three runs in the third. Ryan Brown drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to left center. After a double steal by Nathaniel Maggio and Clark Scolamiero, Frazier singled through the left side of the field to drive in two more runs.

The score remained 3-0 after five innings, but the Indians struck in the top of the sixth with a 2-run home run by Zach Almond.

NGU became unglued in the seventh. Ten batters would bat in the inning for Catawba, and six runs would score, including a 3-run home run to left field by Luke Setzer. North Greenville did respond in the bottom of the inning when Brown scored due to a throwing error.

The Crusaders threatened in the ninth when Brandon Odachowski and Scolamiero walked to begin the bottom of the inning, but after a Catawba pitching change, the next three at-bats resulted in outs, ending the Crusader treat and the game.

North Greenville fell to 34-13 while Catawba improved to 32-12. Ryan Kahny received the win for the Indians.

NGU returns to Ashmore Field Friday to begin their final three-game series of the regular season against the Barton Bulldogs. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
