Tigerville, S.C. - Michael Bonifay earned his first win of the season as a starter while the Crusaders improved to 11-6 as a team with a 9-7 win over Saginaw Valley State University of Michigan.
North Greenville once again employed the long ball to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning as David Houser connected for a three run blast to center field. The homer scored Bennette Hill and Andrew Frazier who reached on a walk and a single. The dinger was Houser's seventh of the season and his fourth in three games.
NGU took an 8-0 lead in the second inning using five hits to score five runs. Josh Black's single would plate the first run, as Mitchell Painter would come around to score. Andrew Frazier and Drew Lipscomb would both plate two runs each on RBI singles.
Brandon Odachowski's would put a checkmark in the RBI column in the fifth inning with his first career home run, a solo blast to left center that extended the NGU lead to 9-0. Odachowski finished the day 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
The Cardinals would get in on the action in the seventh inning as they plated seven runs on five hits. SVS would plate three runs before a grand slam would cut NGU's lead to two runs. The Crusaders would work around further damage though as the Cardinals stranded two.
