Brevard, N.C. - Five players delivered at least two hits on Wednesday afternoon as North Greenville cruised to a 16-0 win over Brevard College.
David Houser led the Crusaders with four RBI as he went 2-4 with two home runs. Jessep Polk, Nathaniel Maggio, Foley George, and Mtichell Painter all delivered three hits each. Maggio and Painter both delivered home runs for NGU while George finished with two doubles.
The Crusaders put up a five-spot in the first inning on the strength of three home runs. Maggio delivered a solo blast while Painter and Houser both plated two runs with their long balls.
Maggio would earn his second RBI of the game in the second inning with a double that scored Bennette Hill. Hill led off the inning with one of nine walks allowed by Brevard Pitching. Maggio's RBI single extended North Greenville's lead to 6-0.
A seven run fifth inning would give NGU a 13-0 cushion, highlighted by Houser's second two run homer of the game. Foley George would set the table with a leadoff single, later advancing to third on a Painter bunt single. Andrew Meadows would plate George on a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the inning. Shaquille Rolle would score two more runs with an RBI triple, later scoring on a wild pitch.
The Crusaders would add one more run in the sixth inning on a Polk RBI single and two more in the eighth as Tony Davilla's single that scored Bennette Hill and Drew Lipscomb who reached base on two walks.
NGU finished the day with 19-hits from 10 different players. Zack Kamerman got the win for NGU as he threw five shutout innings, registering three strikeouts. NGU improved to 10-6 on the season with a Thursday afternoon game scheduled for 2:30pm against Saginaw Valley State.
