Tigerville, S.C. - Mitchell Painter's big day at the plate led North Greenville to a non-conference win on Tuesday as the Crusaders earned a 9-3 win over Mars Hill.

The Crusaders took an early 2-0 lead after one full inning, riding the bats of Jae Roberts and Nathaniel Maggio who both homered. Robert's homer gives him four in the last two games while Maggio added his fourth of the season.

Mars Hill scratched its first run of the game in the fourth inning, cutting the lead to two one on the strength of a solo home run to cut the North Greenville lead in half. The Lions tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 advantage.

Jae Roberts would use the long ball again to help NGU in the sixth inning. His team leading fifth homer would even the score at 3-3. Roberts finished the day 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. It was his second straight game with multiple home runs.

North Greenville regained the lead for good with a two run seventh inning that advanced the score to 5-3 in favor of the Crusaders. Andrew Frazier would do the honors, as his RBI single to right field would score Drew Lipscomb and Shaquille Rolle.

The Crusaders got some insurance runs in the eighth inning. Drew Lipscomb would knock in a run with a sacrifice fly to score David Houser while Mitchell Painter's second career home run would plate three runs as Rolle and Maggio would also come around to score.

Painter finished the day 2-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Maggio was 1-4 with a homer while Bennette Hill finished the day 1-3 with two RBI. The Crusaders finished the day with seven hits. Mike Gilroy would get his first win as a Crusader. John Leopard was credited with the save.
