Tigerville, S.C. - Mitchell Painter was 3-4 with two runs scored on Friday afternoon as North Greenville opened a three game set with a win over Salem International 8-1.
Hunter Dilworth earned the win for the Crusaders as he delivered six innings, allowing one run on three hits. Dilworth struck out three en route to his first win of the season.
NGU got on the board first in with a run in the second inning. Mitchell Painter set the table with a double to left field with one out. Painter would come around to score on the next at bat, taking advantage of an error on the Tigers short stop.
A one out triple in the fourth inning would help produce the Tigers' only run of the game as Tanner Helms scored a batter later on an RBI single to make the score 1-1.
North Greenville had its best inning of the day in the fourth, as four runs would come across to score. Tony Davila and Nathaniel Maggio would deliver RBI base hits while Andrew Frazier and Wheeler Smith would also be credited with RBI as NGU extended the lead to 5-1.
Andrew Frazier would be responsible for two more NGU runs in the fifth as his single to left center field would score Drew Lipscomb and Foley George, giving North Greenville a 7-1 advantage. Frazier would come around to score later in the inning as Bennette Hill singled down the right field line to make the score 8-1.
Frazier finished 1-4 with two runs scored and a team leading three RBI. Nathaniel Maggio was 2-4 with an RBI while Bennett Hill finished 1-3 with one run and an RBI. Drew Lipscomb and Tony Davilla also delivered a two-hit performance.
North Greenville will wrap up the three game series with the Tigers tomorrow afternoon with a double-header starting at 12pm.
