CRUSADERS DROP TWO GAMES TO MARS HILL

Tigerville, S.C. - Your Crusaders dropped two games against the Mars Hill Lions on Wednesday, April 8 here in Tigerville (8-7) (6-5).

In the first game Mars Hill took advantage of a North Greenville error plating two runs in the top of the first inning. It would be in the second inning that the Crusaders offense would strike back plating three runs to take the lead in game one. Shaquille Rolle would start off the attack with a 1 out double. Rolle would later come around to score off of a balk. Josh Black would come up late in the inning and have a 2 RBI double.

Both offenses would be shut down until the top of the fourth inning. The Lions would put four runs on the board off of four hits. The Crusaders would not shy away from the competition as they would plate one run in the bottom of the fifth coming off a RBI single to center field by Rolle, which brought Foley George home. The Lions would then tack on another run in the top of the seventh to put the lead at 7-4. It would then be in the bottom of the seventh inning that North Greenville would rally back to tie the game at seven with three runs off five hits in the inning.

The first game would take extra innings as the game was only scheduled to be played in seven. The defenses would shut down both teams for the next two innings. In the top of the tenth Mars Hill would take the lead by scoring one run off of two hits. The defense for the Lions would then shut down the Crusaders in the bottom half of the inning to take this game 8-7.

The second game would start similar to the first as Mars Hill would take an early run lead in the top of the first off of a Crusaders error. North Greenville would come marching back in the bottom of the first to take the lead at 2-1. The attack would start with Jae Roberts doubling to right field with one out. Allen Staton would then follow up with a double of his own to left field. George would hit a sac fly plating Roberts. Taylor McCuen would then bring home Staton on an RBI single to center field.

The Crusaders would then tack another run to the lead in the bottom of the second off a RBI single by Drew Lipscomb. Mars Hill would answer in the top of the fourth with five runs off four hits and one error. North Greenville would put up two runs in the bottom of the fifth off of a George RBI single, and an error by the Lions. Both pitching staffs would come up big in the final two innings not allowing a single hit. Mars Hill would take this game with the final being 6-5.

Your Crusaders will next play on April 10 at Mount Olive University to begin a three game weekend series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 P.M. on the campus of Mount Olive University.
