Gaffney, S.C.—The North Greenville Baseball Team dropped the series opener to Limestone College on Friday as the Saints escaped with a 5-4 win in the first game of a three game set.

Limestone took an early 3-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first inning and one in the second. North Greenville got on the board in the third with two runs to cut the Saints' lead one run. The Crusaders scored on a Limestone error and a bases loaded walk by Tony Davila to cut the score to 3-2.

Limestone would add another run in the fourth inning to double the NGU deficit after an RBI single. North Greenville trailed late but back-to-back one run innings would pull the Crusaders even with the Saints at 4-4. Tony Davila would pull NGU to within one with a solo homerun while an RBI single from Allen Staton would make the score 4-4 in the ninth.

The Saints would leave two on base in the ninth sending the game into extra innings. North Greenville failed to score in the top of the 10th leaving a runner on base after a leadoff single. The Saints would take advantage in the bottom of the frame, as an NGU error would lead to the game winning run.

Davila led the Crusaders with two RBI while going 1-4 while Staton was 1-4 with one RBI. The Crusaders had five other players with one hit. NGU falls to 7-6 in Conference play with a double-header scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with the Saints.
