Greenville, TN.—Foley George was 2-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI while NGU's pitching staff held the Pioneers to three runs on 11 hits, helping NGU to a 6-3 win over Tusculum in non-conference action.
Foley George put North Greenville up in the second inning with his first homerun of the season, a solo blast that put the Crusaders up 1-0. Wheeler Smith also reached base during the second but Tusculum pitching worked around the NGU base runner, holding the lead to 1-0.
Tusculum would take the lead in the lead with two runs in the fourth inning, using three hits to earn a 2-1 advantage. North Greenville would regain the edge though in the fifth with two runs on a Jae Roberts single. Roberts picked up an RBI on the play.
North Greenville put the game out of reach in the seventh inning with a three run outburst that extended the lead to 6-2. Tony Davila scored knocked in a run with a single up the middle while Andrew Locklear also singled in a run. The Crusaders also scratched a run on a passed ball.
Tusculum would score one more run in the ninth inning, but North Greenville closer Adam Boghosian earned his fifth save of the of season by working around a bases loaded jam with a ground out to end the frame.
NGU had two other players with a 2-4 day as Josh Black and Drew Lipscomb were also 2-4. Lipscomb scored two runs for the Crusaders while Black also crossed the plate once. Tyler Mitchell earned the win for the Crusaders, his first of the season on the mound.
The Crusaders improved to 14-13 on the season, with a chance to win a second straight game tomorrow afternoon in Tigerville. The Crusaders will welcome Young Harris to Ashmore field for a 4pm first pitch.
