Tigerville, S.C. - The North Greenville Crusaders won the series against the Barton Bulldogs splitting Saturday's games.

Barton was able to get the first game victory in extra innings as they won 6-2 in the 9th inning. The second game was then the seven inning game with The Crusaders taking this one in walk off fashion 5-4.

Pitching would be the key for both teams in the first of two games on Saturday between North Greenville and Barton. The game would require more than the scheduled seven inning game. Pitchers for both teams would work into the ninth inning only allowing four runs each.

The Crusaders would start the scoring off in the bottom of the 3rd inning with an RBI single by Drew Lipscomb bringing in Allen Staton. The Bulldogs would not take long to respond as they would plate two runs in the top half of the 4th inning. Both runs for Barton coming off a long ball to left field. North Greenville would rally in the bottom half of the seventh with a sac fly by Josh Black bringing in the leadoff hitter Shaq Rolle.

The Barton Bulldogs would take advantage of a late game rally in the top half of the ninth. They would plate four runs in the top of the 9th inning. North Greenville's offense would be shut down in the bottom of the ninth leaving this game at 6-2. Starting pitcher for the Crusaders Hunter Dilworth would throw 8 1/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 4 runs. Lipscomb and Black would be the two Crusaders to collect an RBI in the first game.

The second game of the day would be a seven inning rubber game of the series. The Barton Bulldogs would not take any time putting runs on the board as they posted a run in the top of the first inning. The run would come off of a solo homerun The Crusaders would rally back in the bottom of the second to take the lead at 2-1. Barton would come back in the next inning before North Greenville would be able to take advantage of Bulldog errors in the third inning to tie the game at three.

Both pitchers would pull themselves together for the following inning, before the Crusaders would scratch across a run in the bottom of the 5th off a RBI single by Jae Roberts. The Bulldogs would not back down scoring in the top of the 6th. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning Jae Roberts would hit the walk off hit winning the ball game for the Crusaders 5-4. Jae Roberts led the Crusaders offense with two hits and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Ryne Frankoff would go four innings giving up five hits and three ones, only one of the runs being earned.

Your Crusaders baseball team improved their record to 11-11 with the series win on Saturday. Their next game will be here in Tigerville on March 10 against Newberry College. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
