Tigerville, S.C. - The North Greenville Crusaders would be able to hold off a late rally by the Barton Bulldogs to win their 5th conference game 9-6.
North Greenville would be able to break through posting three runs in the second inning. Taylor McCuen would begin the inning off with a single. Later in the inning Andrew Locklear would walk with one out in the inning. McCuen would later come around to score off a passed ball. Drew Lipscomb would then come up with a RBI double, and Allen Staton would finish off the scoring in the inning with a RBI single.
Barton would be able to take the lead in the top of the 3rd plating 4 runs in the top half. The Crusaders would then be able to muster up two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take back the lead at 5-4.
Both offenses would go cold until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Crusaders would scratch across 4 runs. Andrew Locklear would start the scoring off scoring on another passed ball. The Crusaders would then bring home the other three runs on RBI base hits. This would bring the score to a final of 9-6.
Allen Staton would power the Crusaders offense on Friday collecting 2 RBIs on 2 hits. Lipscomb would post 2 RBIs as well, while Roberts, McCuen, and George would collect an RBI as well. Ryan Dittmar was credited with the win throwing four innings, allowing 4 runs and 7 hits. Boghosian would collect his third save of the season.
North Greenville now 10-10 on the season, will host Barton College on Saturday, March 6 in a double header. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
