 NORTH GREENVILLE PULLS OUT BROOMS FOR SWEEP OF EMMANUEL

Franklin Springs, Ga.—The North Greenville Baseball Crusaders clinched their first league series of the season Saturday, with sweep of Emmanuel College, earning 11-7 and 9-6 wins over the Lions.

The Crusaders clinched the series with a game one win, taking an 11-7 win over the lions. North Greenville was powered by Tony Davilla was 3-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Jae Roberts deliverd the first runs of the game in the first inning with a double that scored Polk and Allen Staton. Staton would later double in the inning to score two more runs while a Polk single would plate two more for NGU.

The Crusaders would go on to score runs in second and third, and in the sixth on a Tony Davila home run. The Lions would plate one run in the sixth, but did most of their damage in the seventh as six runs would come around to score.

Jessep Polk was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while Allen Staton finished the game with two RBI. Shaquille Rolle was 1-3 with a run scored while Tee McConnell was 1-4 with a run.

The North Greenville bats continued to produce in game two as the Crusaders wrapped up their best offensive series of the season thus far. NGU pounded out nine run son 14 hits in 41 plate appearances while NGU pitching kept the Lions in check allowing six runs on just eight hits.

The Crusaders continued to produce the long ball in game two, as Rolle and Staton both homered during game two. The Crusaders finished the weekend with five home runs after hitting two on Friday night in the series opener. The Crusaders would spread out the runs in game two, scoring runs in six of the seven scheduled innings.

Wheeler Smith was 3-4 in the second game with three runs scored while Jae Roberts, Taylor McCuen, and Tony Davila all accounted two hits each. Roberts led NGU with three RBI. North Greenville is now 8-9 overall on the season and 4-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders will travel to Lincoln Memorial University on March third for a 3pm game with the Railsplitters.
