STATON & BOGHOSIAN EARN NCCAA HONORS WHILE WAITING ON MLB DRAFT

Tigerville, S.C. - A pair of NGU seniors continue to rake in post-season honors as they prepare for the coming Major League Baseball draft, which is scheduled to begin on June 8th.

Allen Staton and Adam Boghosian have been named to the NCCAA All-American First and Second Team's following record-breaking campaigns during their final tour through Tigerville. Staton earned first-team honors while Boghosian added a second-team selection to his resume.

Allen Staton wrapped up a solid career at North Greenville with a Conference Carolinas Championship. The four-year starter became the school's career homerun leader this season after blasting 11 long-balls this year to give him 30 for his career.

Staton's numbers held solid during his final year of collegiate baseball, posting a .386 average with 83 hits and 44 RBI to lead North Greenville in both categories. His 23 doubles this season tied him 13th in the country in the NCAA. Combined with his five triples and homerun total, Staton pounded out 39 extra base hits and scored 54 total runs.

Adam Boghosian spent just one season in Tigerville, but he wasted little time making a name for himself. The senior transfer assumed the role of closer in the NGU bullpen and quickly became the school's most prolific relief pitcher. Boghosian earned his first save as a Crusader against Emmanuel College back in February and never looked back.

He went on to shut the door 12 more times during NGU's championship season, finishing with 13 saves to finish the year tied for second place in the NCAA. He led all NGU pitchers with a microscopic 1.53 earned run average, allowing just five earned runs in 29.1 innings of work.

Both players will look to this week's MLB draft to see if their baseball careers will continue on into the professional stages.
