Greenwood, S.C.—The North Greenville Baseball Team was left searching for its first win of the season, Friday evening following a 17-4 loss to second ranked Lander University.

The Bearcats, now 3-1 on the season, scored 17 runs on 15 hits while NGU pounded out five hits and four runs. Caleb Henley took the loss for North Greenville, after giving up five runs on just one hit. The hurler walked four batters and struck out two.

NGU took the lead early in the game, scoring two runs in the second inning to gain a 2-0 advantage. Jae Roberts, who was 3-4 on the day, dropped an RBI single into left field to give North Greenville a 1-0 lead. Andrew Locklear would accoung for NGU's second run of the game with a sacrifice fly that scored Shaquille Rolle.

North Greenville's lead would be short lived however, as Lander struck in the bottom of the second for six runs. The Bearcats took the 6-2 lead on two hits, but NGU escaped further damage, as a strikeout ended the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

Lander would go on to score two runs in the third and fourth innings, a single run in the fifth, and three more in each the sixth and seventh innings. North Greenville would plate a run in the sixth inning as Wheeler Smith scored on a sacrifice fly from Taylor McCuen. Jae Roberts continued his solid day for NGU with a solo homerun in seventh, his first as a Crusader.

Taylor McCuen was 1-2 for NGU with an RBI while Andrew Locklear also had an RBI for the Crusaders. Robert led North Greenville with two RBIs. Wheeler Smith was 1-4 with a run scored

NGU fell to 0-2 on the season after Friday. The Crusaders will welcome the Bearcats to Tigerville, Saturday afternoon as the two teams are slated for a double-header with the first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
