Tigerville, S.C.—North Greenville head baseball coach Landon Powell has had many highlights in his life on and off the baseball field, and former Oakland Athletics’ and South Carolina baseball slugger is adding one more highlight to the reel.

The newly appointed North Greenville skipper is set to be inducted into the University of South Carolina Association of Lettermen’s Hall of Fame this week. Powell was induced as NGU’s newest head baseball coach in May after serving as an assistant coach for Furman University during the 2014 baseball season.

“I’m so mad I got out. I go back to the dugout and everybody in the stadium keeps standing up and cheering. It really doesn’t make sense,” Powell said. “There’s nobody on base. I was dumbfounded at the moment.”
