Tigerville, SC – In final game of the season series the Tornados of Brevard College took a 9-2 decision over the Crusaders on Tuesday night at Ashmore Field.
The Tornados scored four runs over the first three innings of play to build an early lead until the Crusaders got on the board with two runs of their own.
In the 4th inning, North Greenville cut into the lead on back-to-back RB singles by sophomore Drew Lipscomb and freshman Colton Grant, who recorded his first career hit for a 4-2 deficit.
Brevard added five more runs over the next three innings of play as the Tornados bullpen shut down the North Greenville offense to secure the seven-run victory.
Freshman left-hander Chase Day took the loss after giving up eight runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Fellow freshman Zac Davis pitched the final 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.
Freshman Matt Cooper finished the game 3-for-5, while sophomore Foley George was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Lipscomb was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as Grant also recorded an RBI in the contest.
North Greenville (7-30, 2-13 Conference Carolinas) travel to Due West, SC for a three-game series with conference rival Erskine College beginning Friday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m.
