High Point, NC – Senior outfielder Adam Taylor and sophomore second baseman Allen Staton have each been named Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference members after outstanding individual performances during the 2013 baseball season.
The Conference Carolinas All-Conference baseball teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Players of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team and All-Conference Second Team. Awards were presented at the Conference Tournament Championships hosted by The City of Burlington and The Burlington Royals at the Burlington Athletic Stadium in Burlington, NC at this week’s Conference Championsip.
Taylor earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team after he finished fifth in the conference and led the team with a .392 batting average. The Laurens, SC native led the conference with five triples and finished in the Top 5 with 67 hits and ranked in the Top 10 with 41 runs scored. He also drove in 29 RBI, recording 10 doubles and five home runs and leading the Crusaders with a .485 on-base percentage in 45 games.
Staton, the 2012 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, earned his second straight First Team All-Conference nod after batting .388, including a conference-leading .683 slugging percentage and 11 home runs. The Laurens, SC native also ranked second in the conference and first on the team with 71 hits, including 19 doubles, to go along with 54 RBI and 34 runs scored in 44 games.
