High Point, N.C. – North Greenville University’s Allen Staton has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week during week three of the 2012 – 2013 Baseball season.
Staton, a sophomore, was a pivotal component in lead North Greenville to two wins over the week, including a win over NCAA Division II #1 Mount Olive College. In the Crusaders' first win of the week over Wingate University, the sophomore was 3-for-5 at the plate, including two doubles, with three RBI, while Staton finished 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run scored and four RBI in the victory over Mount Olive.
For the week, the Laurens, SC native totaled eight hits in 17 at-bats for a .471 average with five doubles and seven RBI. Staton also recorded a .471 on-base percentage and .765 slugging percentage over four games as the Cursaders are currently 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
