Young Harris, Ga. – The North Greenville Crusader baseball team dropped a 1 run decision to Young Harris College on Tuesday afternoon 11-10, snapping a three game winning streak, and dropping the Crusaders to 10-4 on the season.

The Crusaders got out of the gates quickly, scoring 5 runs in the first two innings. The Crusaders held a comfortable 5-2 lead after three runs. Young Harris cranked up its bats in the middle innings, scoring 3 runs in the 4th and 5th innings. The Mountain Lions tacked on 1 run in the 6th inning and 2 in the 7th, giving them an 11-7 lead.

The Crusaders were held scoreless in innings 3-6, but scored two runs in consecutive innings, to pull to within 2 runs of Young Harris. In the 9th inning the Crusader threatened to tie the game. John Reinholz pulled NGU to within 1 with a leadoff solo homerun in his only at bat of the day, but the Crusaders failed to score again.

John Reinholz’s solo shot was his first of the season. Derek Fulmer was 3-5 at the dish with 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored, Along with Allen Staton who was 3-5.

Tuesday’s game was the start of a busy week for the Crusaders. NGU will return home Wednesday for an afternoon matchup with Lander University, and will travel to Erskine on Friday for a three game set with the Flying Fleet.
