Greenville, S.C.—The North Greenville baseball team took the field in front of 1,620 fans tonight at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina. The Crusaders battled but fell 7-1 to the defensively solid saints.
The Limestone Saints scored early in the game with runs in the first and second inning. The Crusaders cut the Limestone lead to one in the third inning with a two out RBI single from Anthony Foulk which scored John Reinholz from second base. The Crusaders threatened later in the game but were unable to capitalize. In all the Crusaders tallied seven hits on the Limestone ace while leaving six runners on base.
Getting the start on the mound tonight for NGU was senior Mike Benjamin. Benjamin ran into a hot Limestone Saints team which scored six runs on Benjamin while racking up 14 hits. The Saints finished the night with an impressive 16 hits.
Offensively for NGU Anthony Foulk and Adam Taylor led the way as both went 2-4 from the plate. Foulk also accounted for the Crusaders only RBI. Derek Fulmer was 1-4 from the dish while Taylor Hollifield and John Reinholz were 1-3. Reinholz scored the lone run for the Crusaders.
The loss drops the Crusaders to 29-13 on the season as they prepare for their final stretch. NGU will travel to Wilson, N.C. for a three game series with Barton College before returning home for the season finally against Montreat on April 26th.
