Mason, OH-- Derek Fulmer was 4-4 with a solo home run and Adam Taylor Smashed a two out two run homer to take the lead in the top of the 7th as the Crusaders win 7-5 decision over Olivet Nazarine in comeback Fashion.
North Greenville took the lead in the first inning scoring two runs on two hits including a double by Derek Fulmer. Olivet wasted little time tieing the game scroing two runs on one hit in the bottom half of the inning.
North Greenville broke the 2-2 tie in the third inning with two runs on three hits to take the lead 4-2. The score remained the same until the fifth inning when the Tigers of Olivet took a one run lead after scoring three runs on three hits.
Heading into the final inning the Crusaders were down 5-4. With two outs catcher Anthony Foulk ripped a bases empty single down the left field line. Freshman Adam Taylor stepped into the batters box and one swing of the bat put the Crusaders up 6-5 with a two two run homer to right field. Derek Fulmer followed the Taylor homerun with a solo smash to left field putting North Greenville up 7-5.
Junior Brian Giles was brought in to close the game out in the bottom of the seventh. Giles shut the tigers down in order with two strikeouts and groundout securing the game 2 win for NGU.
“I had a good feeling that we were going to win even while facing adversity and we never lost faith,” remarked Adam Taylor after his game winning home run. “God did a big thing through me. I got the pitch I wanted and I put a good swing on it and it went out. It was the greatest feeling I have ever experienced.”
The Crusaders remain in the winners bracket with the win and will play Bluefield tommorow at 1pm.
