PROVENCE AND DUCKWORTH TABBED AS NCCAA FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICANS

Mason, Ohio—Two North Greenville University baseball players have been named to the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) first team All-Americans.

Junior right fielder Markus Duckworth and sophomore starter Drew Provence were both honored at a banquet Tuesday night. For the season, Duckworth compiled a .415 batting average posting 66 hits in 159 at bats. 19 of his hits were for extra bases including 16 doubles, two triples, and a homerun. Duckworth also accounted for 69 runs and 51 RBI’s while leading the team in stolen bases.

Ace right hander Drew Provence had a solid year from the mound going 11-1 in starts with his only loss coming against NCAA top 10 team Georgia College and State. From the hill, provence registered a 2.35 earned run average in 80.1 innings pitched. For the season, stockpiled 63 strikeouts and only 28 walks.  For his solid performance throughout the 2010 season, Provence was also honored as the NCCAA Pitcher of The Year.

Provence has also been tabbed as the starter for the Crusaders opening game of the 2010 NCCAA World Series.
