Tigerville, S.C.—Adam Taylor was 3-5 with two home runs and four RBI’s to the Crusaders as North Greenville falls 12-10 to the 10th ranked Georgia College & State University Bobcats.
Despite the two run loss, the Crusaders held the lead for six innings. The Bobcats scored first however with one run in the top of the first. The Crusaders answered with four runs in the bottom half of the first.
North Greenville added three runs in the second inning with home runs from Randy Stegall (2 runs) and Adam Taylor (solo). NGU led 7-1 heading into the third inning before Georgia College & State began to chip away at the lead. GCSU scored two runs in the top of the third and two runs in the fifth before taking the lead 10-7 with a five run seventh inning.
After the Crusaders tied the game at 10 in the eighth inning the Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take a two run lead. North Greenville had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on base and two outs but the Crusaders were unable to produce a run.
Randy Stegall led the offensive attack with Adam Taylor. Stegall was 3-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Other leaders were Dayton Lupton who was 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored and David Frazier who was 2-4 with a run scored and two RBI’s.
The Crusaders and Bobcats will wrap up their series tomorrow with a double header starting at 1:30 at Ashmore Field.
