Tigerville, S.C.— North Greenville (31-7) ride the momentum of a four run second inning to a 6-5 win over South Atlantic Conference member Mars Hill College (25-12).

The Crusaders struck first offensively scoring four runs in the bottom of the second inning, three of which came on a Markus Duckworth three run homer. The Lions had scoring threats in both the first and second innings including a one out runners on the corners situation in the top of the second which was spoiled by an inning ending double play. 
Mars Hill would pull to within three runs in the top of the third with a solo homerun from Mike Kitt. MHC platted another run in the fourth to pull to within two of NGU. The Crusaders padded their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Senor Dayton Lupton scored from second on a Randy Stegall single up the middle.
NGU added a run in the bottom of the eighth to giving the Crusaders the 6- 5 one run win. On the mound the Crusaders had another solid performance from ace Drew Provence. Mars Hill would make the game too close for comfort however scoring 3 runs in the top of the ninth before the Crusaders filed the final out of the game.
Provence pitched six complete innings giving up two runs on eight hits. He struck out three batters and allowed 2 walks. Nate Richards came on in relief for North Greenville. Richards gave up two runs on two hits and struck out two. Brian Giles entered the game in the ninth inning and 
Offensively the Crusaders were led by Markus Duckworth who was 2-4 with three RBI’s and a run scored and David Frazier who was 2-4 with a run scored. Mike Kitt led the Lions going 2-3 with a HR.
The Crusaders and Lions will wrap up the three game series tomorrow with a double header at Mars Hill starting at 1pm.
