Franklin Springs, Ga.—The North Greenville baseball team swept a double header against the Emmanuel College Lions today in comeback fashion winning the first game 12-10 and taking the second game 9-7 in extra innings.

During the first game of the day Emmanuel took a quick lead 6-3 in the third inning. The Crusaders pulled to within one run in the fourth before EC built a three run lead at 8-5 in the 5th inning. North Greenville was quick to bounce back scoring 5 runs in the fifth inning leading 10-9. The Crusaders added insurance runs in the top of seventh and Brian Giles came in to close the game pitching a solid bottom seventh inning to shut the Lions offense down securing the win for NGU.
In the second game the Crusaders held a two run lead in the fifth inning before Emmanuel struck with two runs to take the lead 7-5 heading into the seventh inning. The Crusaders tied the game at 7 in the top of seventh sending the game into extra innings. The Crusaders would go on to score two runs in the top of the ninth to secure their second extra inning game in three days.
“We were just able to find a way to win,” said head coach Travis Henson. “We didn’t play very well but we found a way to put together two comeback wins on the road. We just got lat hits at crucial points in the game which helped us win the games. We know we need to play better but the guys just keep finding ways to win baseball games.”
The Crusaders return home tomorrow for a double header against Ohio Christian starting at 12pm.
