Central, S.C.— After an impressive showing at Southern Wesleyan on Friday, the Crusader baseball team traveled back to Central to complete the series sweep winning the first game 16-4 and winning the second game 14-9 over the Warriors.
For the entire series the Crusaders outscored the Warriors 46-20. “It was a team attack offensively for us this year and it was very impressive,” remarked head coach Travis Henson. One of the major contributors offensively for NGU was Adam Taylor who hit a grand slam last night and a bases clearing double today.
Jacob Goetze also had an impressive weekend at the plate for the Crusaders. “This was a huge weekend for us,” Henson, “one of the big keys was we were very clutch at the plate and we responded offensively when SWU would pick up some runs and it was just good to beat our rival.”
With the win the baseball team completed a week of winning at Southern Wesleyan after the women’s basketball team won on Tuesday night followed by a softball sweep Wednesday.
The Baseball team will return to the diamond on February 24 with a home game against Anderson University. The first pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
