Limestone College pounded out 15 hits and had five extra base hits as they outlasted North Greenville 16-8 in a slugfest at Ashmore Field in Tigerville Friday afternoon.
Limestone scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead, but blew the game open with six runs in the sixth. The Saints responded with five more runs in the 7th inning to fully take control of the game.
North Greenville’s leading hitter, Derek Fulmer (FR Pelion, SC .352), rapped out four hits in four trips to the plate and scored three runs. Tyler Callicut (JR Pittsboro, NC) went 3-5 with three RBI’s (home run and a double) and scored two runs. Jacob Goetze also was 1-2 with two RBI’s for the Crusaders.
Justin Williamson took the brunt of the Saints’ offensive surge and absorbed the loss on the mound for NGU.
The Crusaders will travel to Gaffney, SC for a doubleheader with Limestone Saturday afternoon in their next action. North Greenville’s next home contest will be April 10-11, a three-game series with Brevard College. That will also be the team’s final home games of the 2009 season.
