Anderson, S.C.- The NGU baseball team traveled to Anderson on Tuesday night for a gamed that looked to be threatened by rain. On the mound for the Crusaders was pitcher Devin Vance a left hander from Taylors, S.C. The decision to start Devin would turn out to be a good one as Vance threw all 9 innings for the Crusaders allowing 1 run off of 5 hits.
The Crusaders supported Vance well by scoring three runs in the third inning and added an insurance run in the eighth. Derek Fulmer, who went 2-4 for NGU, scored on a throwing error in the eighth, and Randy Stegall and Dayton Lupton both had sacrifices in the third inning which scored runs. Tyler Callicutt also had an RBI double in the inning.
“Vance really had a solid performance today,” Henson said. “He had great command of his pitches and he turned one of the best single game performance by a pitcher this season.”
North Greenville, which put together its first two-game win streak of the season, will host Erskine College for two games on Thursday, April 2 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Ashmore Field in Tigerville.
