TIGERVILLE, SC--North Greenville University won one game of a three-game series with Erskine College over the weekend at Ashmore Field. The Crusaders took the opening game Friday 9-8, but lost the nightcap 9-4. Erskine won Saturday's game 13-7. The Crusaders are now 16-31 on the season.
GAME ONE: NGU 9 EC 8
North Greenville scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the game from the Fleet. Dylan Davidson singled in Chris Tate and Matt Britt. Then Cory Hinton singled in Davidson to win the game for the Crusaders.
Tommy Okano grabbed the win for NGU, while Williams took the loss for Erskine.
Davidson led the Crusaders at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with three RBI. Britt scored three times on a 2-for-3 day, while Kyle Baron batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Rick Broadway hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
GAME TWO: EC 9 NGU 4
Freeman took the win for the Fleet, giving up six hits and striking out three in five innings of work. Brett Hamilton took the loss for NGU.
Fogle led the Fleet at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Mike Reis and Rick Broadway each had two hits for the Crusaders.
GAME THREE (SAT): EC 13 NGU 7
Erskine took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and made it 10-0 before NGU could get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Coward won the game for Erskine, while Davidson took the loss for NGU.
Fogle went 3-for-6 with four RBI and three runs scored, including a home run. Westmoreland batted 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Britt led NGU offensively with a 3-for-4 day. Reis went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Curt Marshall hit a home run.
