Baseball falls to Chowan

TIGERVILLE, SC- Chowan University scored six runs in the eighth inning to defeat North Greenville University 7-4 Friday afternoon at Ashmore Field. The Crusaders fall to 13-23 on the season.

Joey Ryder led they way for the Hawks, batting 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored. Nick Harner also added two RBI for Chowan.

Matt Britt went 4 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Mike Reis batted 3 for 4 with two RBI to lead the Crusaders. Corey Hinton went 3 for 4 with a run scored, and Rick Broadway batted one run in and scored twice on a 2 for 4 day.

NGU led 3-2 heading into the top of the eighth inning. Two errors cost the Crusaders as Chowan scored six runs in the inning. NGU added one run in the ninth, but it was not enough as the Hawks won 7-4.

The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
