Crusaders defeat Brevard 4-3

TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville University defeated Brevard College 4-3 Friday at Ashmore Field in NCAA II baseball action. Devin Vance pitched a complete game, striking out 14 batters en route to the win. North Greenville improves to 12-20 on the season.

Jordan Hotchkiss pitched seven innings, giving up nine hits to take the loss for the Tornados.

Chris Tate led the Crusaders, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Curt Marshall batted 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Spencer Linn led the Tornados with two hits and an RBI.

NGU scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in each of the fifth and seventh innings. Brevard scored two in the fourth and one in the ninth. Brevard threatened to tie the game in the ninth, with two runner on and one out, but Vance forced Brandon Ball to hit into a double play to end the inning and the game.

The two teams will be back in action Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
