HARROGATE, TN- Lincoln Memorial University swept an afternoon doubleheader against North Greenville University Wednesday at Lamar Hennon Field. The Railsplitters won 12-2 and 7-6.
The Railsplitters pounded out eleven hits in the first game and were led by senior Mike Richardson who was three for four at the plate with two RBI. Also swinging a solid bat was outfielder Sergio Baez who was two for three on the game with two RBI.
North Greenville was led by Dylan Davidson, who went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Curt Marshall and Tyler Callicutt each had one RBI.
LMU scored one run in the first inning, six in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth. NGU scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Scott Erland improved to 2-0 with the win. Tommy Okano took the loss for NGU.
In the second game, North Greenville led 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh. LMU scored four runs in the seventh to force extra innings. Storm Kaufman scored on a bunt to win the game for the Railsplitters.
After scoring once in each of the first two innings, the Crusaders used a big fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Rick Broadway doubled in Callicutt and Corey Hinton. Then, Broadway and Mike Reis scored on errors on seperate plays.
Rick Broadway went 1 for 4 with two RBI to lead NGU. Reis, Christ Tate, and Callicutt each had two hits for NGU.
Reed Neff picked up the win for LMU, while Davidson took the loss for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders will be back in action March 14th at Lander University.
