Baseball splits with Mars Hill
Dustin Pace batted in 3 runs in Game 2 win

TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville split a double-header with Mars Hill College Wednesday afternoon at Ashmore Field. The Lions won the first game 4-2, while North Greenville took Game Two by the same score.

In Game One, Mars Hill took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on three hits and one Crusader error. The Lions added a fourth run in the third inning. North Greenville got on the scoreboard in the third inning when Dustin Pace crossed the plate on a fielder's choice. Chris Tate scored the Crusaders' only other run in the sixt inning on an Eric Loy single.

Brendan Van Popering picked up the win for Mars Hill, while Dylan Davidson took the loss for North Greenville.

The Crusaders showed some resiliency after losing the first game and then going down 1-0 early in the second game. Pace singled in Matt Britt to tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. Mars Hill regained the lead in the third when Andy Tillman scored on a fielder's choice.

The fourth inning proved to be huge for the Crusaders. North Greenville scored three runs on three hits and two Lion errors. Pace batted two in on a single, and later crossed the plate for the final run of the afternoon.

Four runs was enough for Devin Vance, who picked up the first win of his career by throwing a complete game. Vance struck out five, while allowing six hits.

North Greenville improves to 2-1 on the season, and will travel to 16th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic University this weekend for a three game series.
