TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville pulled off a doubleheader sweep of Southern Wesleyan University Wednesday afternoon at Ashmore Field. The Crusaders won by scores of 11-1 and 7-6.
GAME 1: NGU 11, SWU 1
Devin Vance pitched seven innings, giving up one run to pick up his sixth win of the season. The Crusaders scored one run in each of the first, second, third, and fifth innings before racking up seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Eric Loy went three for four and scored three runs to lead North Greenville. Mike Reis and Carlos Cardenas each had two hits and scored two runs. Cardenas homored in the seventh inning.
GAME 2: NGU 7, SWU 6
North Greenville held a 4-1 advantage going into the top of the seventh inning. The Warriors plated five runs in the inning to take a 6-4 lead. The Crusaders rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the inning to win the ballgame.
The winning run crossed the plate when Matt Britt hit a ground ball to first base with two outs and the bases loaded. The first baseman bobbled the ball and Britt was able to reach first base safely. Cardenas scored on the play to give North Greenville the victory.
Chris Tate went two for three with three RBI. Dylan Davidson picked up the win for North Greenville.
