Alma Mater South Carolina '80

Michael Bayne returns to North Greenville after a stint of five years from 2010-2015 where he worked with North Greenville's kickers as well as helped with the start of both the Track & Field and Women's Lacrosse programs. Bayne was the original head coach of both programs before departing NGU following the spring of '15. Bayne is no stranger to coaching, having spent 39-years in the profession, a career which includes stints in three different states including South Carolina, North Carolina, and Louisiana.

In his time as a mentor, Michael Bayne has coached 15 All-Americans, an NCCAA National Champion in Freddie Martino (Indoor Track & Field), and was named Coach of the Year more than 20-times with one State Coach of the Year nod. In his time, Bayne was also honored as the Athletic Director of the year for his work in administration. Also included in his resume is the Educator of the Year and was also honored by the South Carolina US Senators for his basketball team's accomplishment of most in-game three-pointers, a Guinness Book World Record.

During his 39-years in the coaching circuit, Coach Bayne was also honored by earning a spot in the WCOS Charleston Hall of Fame, the Garret Academy of Technology Wall of Fame (2002), and was nominated for the South Carolina Hall of Fame. At North Greenville, he mentored former NGU kicker Justin Gravely who set the program's scoring record with 304-points. Justin is the older brother of current NGU Kicker/Punter Matt Gravely.

As a head coach, Bayne has been a part of more than 600-wins
