Khara Herring joined the NGU Women's Basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant in the spring of 2018. From Durham, North Carolina, Herring played basketball at two different high schools, playing a season at Northern High School before transferring and playing two seasons at Hillside High School. After graduating in 2014, Herring signed with the Crusaders to play under long-time head coach Jayne Arledge. Herring earned her first collegiate start in the season opener of her senior season against the University of North Georgia on November 10, 2017. Nearly a month later, she would post a career-high 10 point performance against Belmont Abbey College on December 2, 2017.
Herring went on to graduate in the Spring of 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science. She joined the coaching staff in the spring of 2018 along with interim head coach Angel McGowan. The two coached the Crusaders through a tough but competitive 2018-19 season that resulted in star player Karen Donehew being named to the 2018-19 All-Conference Carolinas 2nd Team. Under new head coach Kelvin Long, Herring returns to the coaching staff for the 2019-20 season.
