The North Greenville Men's Soccer team lost another heartbreaking game, this time to Lees-McRae College, by a score of 1-0.
After facing a barrage of shots by the Bobcat attackers, the Crusaders nearly saw the game out to a 0-0 draw. However, in the 87th minute, Lees-McRae finally broke through. Jacob Copeland received the ball in the middle of the field and was able to draw Crusader goalie Mateo Barzola off his line before putting it in the back of the net. The Crusaders were unable to find a goal in the final moments, and the Bobcats took the conference victory.
Barzola spent the full 90 minutes in goal for the Crusaders, saving six shots on the night. Victor Labi had three shots on the night, with one shot on target. Joe Severs had two shots, including one on target as well.
The loss drops the Crusaders to 2-10 on the season and 0-7 in Conference Carolinas play.
North Greenville returns to the pitch to take on Southern Wesleyan University on October 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Tigerville.
