Bernardi Honored In Athletics Hall of Fame
Tigerville, SC - North Greenville University's own Andre Bernardi will be inducted into the North Greenville Athletics Hall of Fame this Saturday, Sept. 21 during halftime of the football game between the Crusaders and Tusculum College.
The most decorated football player in NGU history, Andre was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American as a defensive end, and was a First Team selection twice. He was also named to the NCAA All-South Region team three times. The Marietta, Georgia native was a four-time selection to the NCCAA All-American team, a four-time NCAA Division II All-Independent All-American, and was the NCAA Division II Independent schools and the NCCAA’s National Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.
At the completion of his career at North Greenville, Andre tied the all-time NCAA Division II record for sacks (42), and became the NCAA Division II’s all-time leader in career tackles for loss with 78 (which is also the highest total for any NCAA division). He added 240 total tackles in his four-year career, and he currently holds eight NGU defensive records.
Andre also competed in two post-season All-Star games, including the East Coast Bowl All-Star Game in Petersburg, Virginia, and the Valero Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas. He was selected to the State newspaper’s prestigious ‘All Decade’ team in 2009, and Andre was a two time selection to the State’s All-State team.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in sport management from NGU in 2010, he served as a graduate assistant for the football program, and earned his masters of business administration from NGU in 2012. He was hired as NGU’s first ever full time Strength and Conditioning Coordinator in 2012.
