Crusaders Earn All-Conference, All-Tournament Awards
Burlington, NC - Over the weekend, the North Greenville University golf program competed in the Conference Carolinas Championship at The Challenge Golf Course in a three-day tournament.
While the men's team finished fifth overall and the women's team fourth in the final standings, three Crusaders claimed individual awards for their performances throughout the season and during the tournament.
Senior Danny Dippel earned Third Team All-Conference honors after being the most consistent player and team leader for the men's program. Dippel played in all nine tournaments entered by North Greenville, leading the Crusaders to seven Top 5 finishes as a team, including a title in the Cherokee Valley Invitational on March 26 in Greenville, SC.
As an individual, the Mills River, NC native earned five Top 25 finishes including two Top 10s and an individual victory in the Cherokee Valley Invitational with a tournament total of 72-74-146 and defeated teammate Josh ONeal in a one-hole playoff. For the season, Dippel finished with an average round total of 75, including a low score of 71 in the Tusculum Fall Classic.
For the women's team, freshman Ashley Carrell earned All-Tournament honor and claimed the individual conference title, shooting a two-day total of 78-76-154, while sophomore AnnaLeis Dibert also earned All-Tournament honors with a final score of 85-83-168 to finish in a tie for 11th place overall.
The two underclassmen were pivotal components in leading the Lady Crusader golf team to its most successful season in team history as North Greenville finished with eight Top 10 finishes, including four Top 5s and a team title in the Cherokee Valley Invitational on March 26 in Greenville, SC.
