KURHAJEC TABBED AS NEW TENNIS COACH AT NORTH GREENVILLE

Tigerville, S.C.— Jan McDonald, North Greenville University athletic director announced today, that Tomas Kurhajec, North Greenville alum, and former tennis standout, has been tabbed as the newest men’s and women’s tennis coach at North Greenville University.

The search for a new coach began shortly after the school year began and concluded Wednesday afternoon. In his four years at NGU, Kurhajec accrued numerous awards including two first team All-American awards for singles and doubles, as well as a second team nod for singles and doubles (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association).

Kurhajec was also part of NGU’s 6th straight NCCAA National Championship team during the 2007 season. He was also part of NGU’s cross-country team at North Greenville.

A Slovakia native, Kurhajec brings a wealth of tennis experience to an already successful tennis program that has won 7 NCCAA National Championships. With over 20 years of competitive playing experience, Kurhajec also coached beginner and advanced players at a tennis academy in Jan Austria as well as in Zilina, Slovakia.

Before taking a job in student services at NGU, he was the assistant cross-country coach for the Crusaders. Tomas graduated from North Greenville in 2009 with an undergraduate degree in Sport Management, and in 2011 with a Masters in Business Administration.

Kurhajec will inherit a program that went a combined 14-20 in the 2011-2012 season.
