NGU BASEBALL COACH TRAVIS HENSON STEPS ASIDE TO TAKE MISSIONS POSITION

Tigerville, SC --

Travis Henson, who led the North Greenville University baseball team to a National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championship in 2010, and a runner up finish in 2011, has been appointed the Director of Athletic Missions and Athletic Outreach, and will step aside from his baseball duties to focus on this vital position.

Henson had a three year record of 90-71 and helped the Crusaders set a school record for wins with a 46-14 mark in 2010.
Currently the youth worship pastor at Washington Baptist Church in Greer, Henson stated that his goal is to lead the Crusaders’ athletic programs into ministry opportunities like the Miracle League, student-athlete clinics and outreach programs at local schools.

“I am stepping down from baseball to serve in this important position,” he said. “I did it to assist all of our athletic teams in ministry and outreach to other people in our community.  That’s my goal in my life.   Coaching is in my blood, and I’m not sure I won’t ever coach baseball again, but it’s something I feel like I need to do.”

"My goal in life is to influence the most people possible and I will serve in whatever capacity best allows me to accomplish that goal."
