NGU TO HOST CRUSADER GOLF CLASSIC AT THE CLIFFS

With an expressed goal of generating funds for athletic scholarships, the 24th Annual North Greenville University Crusader Club Golf Classic will be held at the exclusive Cliffs Valley Golf Course Tuesday, April 12.

Registration for the tournament is now open and players interested in participating can contact Dr. Phil Gardner, Director of the Crusader Club, at (864) 977-7014, or phil.gardner@ngu.edu for more details.
Proceeds raised during the tournament at one of South Carolina’s finest golf courses will be used to create scholarships for over 300 NCAA Division II student-athletes in 14 athletic programs at NGU.  Last year, Crusader athletic teams won National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championships in football and baseball, and women’s basketball and men’s tennis finished in the top four.  In the fall of 2011, the Crusader football team will become an affiliate member of the South Atlantic Conference, and all other NGU programs will join the NCAA II Conference Carolinas.
“These are exciting times for North Greenville Athletics as we increase competition with conference affiliation with two prestigious athletic conferences, and our annual golf tournament is a special way for our fans to make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes and help us build Champions for Christ.”
A wide array of prizes and gifts will be provided for participants, including a pre-owned automobile (sponsored by Dick Brooks Honda) to one lucky golfer for closest to the pin on a par three. The tournament is also seeking sponsors for this beneficial event, and those interested can contact Dr. Phil Gardner to obtain more information.
North Greenville University was recently recognized in an article by US News & World Report as one of the most popular Liberal Arts Universities in the country. And Forbes Magazine recognized NGU as one of the top three colleges and universities (public and private) in South Carolina.
