Lindsay Eargle, a senior catcher from Newberry, SC, and Derek Fulmer, a sophomore designated hitter from Pelion, SC, were both named First Team All-Independents Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) national team, it was announced by the ICAA in Billings, Mont.
Randy Stegall (JR OF, Pauline, SC) and Kristyn Smith (SO P Walhalla, SC) were both selected to the Second Team All-ICAA squads.
Eargle concluded her brilliant career at NGU by hitting .325 with four doubles and a team high 40 hits. She started all 36 games behind the plate for the Crusaders, who were one hit away winning the NCCAA South Regional championship this season.
Fulmer led the Crusaders with a.367 batting average, and played in 49 of 50 games. He hit a team best eight home runs, added 15 doubles, and team highs of 66 hits and 41 RBI’s, which was more than double of any other teammate. He also had a .583 slugging percentage, Stegall played in all 50 games, and hit .349 with 59 hits. He had a team high 46 runs scored, 11 doubles and team bests with 31 base on balls and 12 stolen bases.
Smith had a great year on the mound for the Crusaders as she had an 11-8 record as the top pitcher. She posted a 2.32 earned run average, threw 16 complete games, four shutouts in 128 innings and added 145 strikeouts.
