BASKETBALL TEAMS HOST HOME CONTESTS BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK

The NGU men’s and women’s basketball teams will each host home games this week before breaking for final examinations and the Christmas holiday.


The NGU women (3-1) will travel to play Mars Hill in Asheville Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6:00 p.m. before hosting Tusculum Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Hayes Gymnasium.  Coach Jayne Arledge’s team will seek to snap a two-game losing streak against Mars Hill.  Following final exams, the women will host The Apprentice School of Virginia Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2:00 p.m.  Freshman guard Karly Stache leads the Crusaders in scoring at 14.6 ppg.  She also has knocked down 13 3’s, which is an average of over 3 per game.  Senior All-American center Amanda Milner is averaging 14.4 ppg and 6.8 rebounds.  Nikki Wood is averaging 11.6 points per game and 4.2 rebounds.
Coach Chad Lister’s men (1-3) won their first game last time out as they defeated Warren Wilson 79-57 on the road.  They will host Mars Hill Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.  .  Freshman center Paul Harrison leads the Crusaders in scoring and rebounding at 19.7 ppg and 10.3 rebounds.  Junior forward Kyler Vitko is at 8.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
